Therapy Group: Social Skills
Skill-Streaming curriculum uses the Behavior Skills Training model of instruction, model, rehearsal, and feedback to teach autistic adolescents/adolescents with autism critical skills in terms of navigating a classroom, friendship making skills, and dealing with feelings. "Homework" worksheets are built into the program, allowing these skills to come home with your learner each week.
This group is meant to provide an after-school opportunity for children with autism to practice key social skills with BCBAs and RBTs. It also will provide these children a group of peers facing the same social struggles that they might be facing.
Participation in the program requires an assessment with a BCBA; participants who are a good fit for this program would have some or all of the following skills:
Able to read aloud from a social script
Able to follow 2-3 step instructions
Able to wait while others take turns rehearsing
Able to recall details from their day or week
We will be assessing participants from February 1st - February 15th with the goal of our first session Monday February 28th. P
